Junkyards in Wilmington California

Wilmington is the harbor end of Los Angeles and it holds the densest concentration of salvage yards in the county.

The yards here sit around Anaheim Street, Alameda Street, Ford Avenue, Cristobal Avenue and the lettered streets, G and M, running off them. It is a working industrial district rather than a retail one, so expect gravel, forklifts and a counter rather than a showroom.

Worth knowing: some of the yards on these same streets list themselves under Los Angeles rather than Wilmington. They are the same strip and the same few blocks. Why the harbor yards are different

This district sits next to the port and the industrial south of the city, and what comes through it shows up on the shelves. There is a good spread of imports alongside the domestic metal, and turnover is fast because these yards supply trade buyers as well as the public.

Fast turnover cuts both ways. Stock is fresh, but a part listed last week may well be gone. Ring before you drive.

Use the density

You can reach several wrecking yards here without rejoining a freeway, which is rare in Los Angeles and is the whole point of coming. Get a price at the first one, then walk to the next two before you buy. Yards quote against their own shelf, so the number moves more than people expect.
